A SHADOW FEARS NONE
Lurking close behind you,
A shadow fears none.
Sometimes so very small,
Only to become larger than life.
Dark, sulking,
Watching your every move.
From the meekest form
To the fiercest beast,
None may escape it.
Following close behind,
Only to jump ahead as you turn.
Some fear the shadow,
But a shadow fears none.
TINY
Tiny
In a world so large
One man
Among millions in the crowd
Miniscule
A mote of dust in the eyes of a god
So small
As to be unrecognized
Embroyonic
Striving to be large
One planet
So tiny
In a galaxy of infinite space
TO FEEL NOTHING
To feel nothing,
To float,
A state of embroyonic bliss.
Dead,
Yet unborn,
A peaceful, silent slumber.
Swimming,
Weightless through space,
The soul's sweet release.
The dream of a man
In endless pain,
To feel,
Nothing.
QUIET CONFUSION
Quiet confusion,
Angry questions unanswered.
My sullen mind,
Like a stew someone forgot to stir.
Angry,
Not knowing how or why,
What has been done to me?
Helpless,
An embroyonic soul
Hidden in a womb of resentment.
Waiting,
To be born again into the knowing world.
Mother,
The cold ground beneath my feet.
Father,
The cold sting of the Law.
Begging,
For an answer to my fear.
Confused;
Why must I die to live?
STAINED
Stained,
By a world that does not care.
Social stigmata,
Branded for life by the unfeeling masses.
Hated,
With hatred in return.
Scarred,
By Society's machine.
Rejected,
Like a leper in a ditch.
Angered,
Betrayed,
Stained.
WHAT GOES AROUND
When it comes to energy
You get what you give,
It can strike you down
Or help you to live.
What you put out
You are bound to receive,
And it really doesn't matter
Whether or not you believe.
In other terms it states
That "we reap what we've sown",
So, are you playing in dirt
Or has your garden grown?
Are you secure in the knowledge
That you're doing it right,
Or does it sting you with fear
As you lay down at night?
Please just keep in mind
As you sift through your chores,
To keep watch over your shoulder
For that which is yours.
YOUR DREAMS ARE MINE
"Your dreams are mine", she whispered
As we snuggled into bed
And I thought for quite awhile
About the words that she had said.
I thought of the amazing way
That she never lets me down,
And how she always seems to bring
A smile from a frown.
I thought of how she always stands
For what I feel is right,
And the way her soft and loving words
Can quickly stop a fight.
Her eyes, her smile, and gentle touch
Went rushing through my mind,
And I noticed that I've never known
A woman half as kind.
A smile ran across my lips
As my heart swelled up with pride,
For it was then I finally realized:
My dream was by my side.
POSITIVE THINKING
The power of positive thinking
Is something we all should use,
But it's much too often that we find
That our knowledge we sometimes abuse.
We cling to our emotions
That cause us nothing but pain,
And store them back for a later date
So that we may feel them again.
We tell ourselves that failure
Will surely destroy our lives,
But we must learn to understand
That a person who is strong survives.
To start to succeed within our lives
All we need is a positive thought,
And we'll find it's easy to put to use
All the things that we've been taught.
So, put the thoughts within your mind
And strive for what you want to achieve,
For you will surely find results
As long as you believe.
THE CIRCLE OF FRIENDS
We sit around this circle
Brothers and sisters all
To help ourselves recover
So that we do not fall.
Holding our sobriety
Like a treasure from the sea,
We must keep living day by day,
On this we all agree.
We look toward a higher power
For we know we shall receive
Hope and inspiration,
If only we believe.
We offer hugs and kind advice
To keep each other strong,
For we know that times are hard
And the road is very long.
I enjoy the unity of the group
And all the love it sends,
For I do not know just where I would be
Without this circle of friends.
THE TRAIN CALLED LIFE
Up and down,
Side to side,
I'm being taken
For a ride.
This train called Life
At times won't go,
But now it seems
It just won't slow.
It's heading down
A winding track,
Charging on,
No turning back.
A steady rhythm
That's way too fast,
I need to stop
To look at my past.
So won't you help me
For goodness sake,
And tell me where
To find the brake?
